Public School Arrogance

A 9-year-old kid in Arizona was suspended from school for using the term "brown people." When the kid's parent objected to the suspension the principle told her that if she didn't like it she could take her son out of the school.

Arizona spends $6261 per student on public education. I'm sure the parent would have been happy to take her kid to a private school if she could have used this $6261 to pay private tuition. But of course the Arizona public school system would get to keep this $6261 even if the kid left the system. My guess is that if this money were at risk, the principle would have treated the kid much more reasonably. Not having to please customers, however, gives public school principles freedom to anger parents.
