Increasing the number of female scientists
There are far more male than female scientists. After reading this article in Scientific American I have figured out how to increase the number of women who pursue scientific careers. According to the article
1. "By the end of grade school and beyond, females perform better [than males] on most assessments of verbal abilities."
2. Among gifted kids, those who have better math than verbal skills were very likely to go into math and science related fields while those who had stronger verbal than math skills "most often pursued educational credentials in the humanities and law."
So part of the reason there are so few female scientists is that women on average have stronger verbals skills than men do. So the obvious way to increase the number of female scientists is to decrease the quality of verbal-skills related education that girls receive.
