Yahoo, failure, and whole reading
Yahoo's troubles caused its stock price to fall and resulted in a hostile takeover bid from Microsoft. Yahoo's "principals" will now likely lose their powerful jobs. If only our public school systems worked this way.
The CATO blog discusses how public schools use whole reading methods rather than phonics to teach young children how to read even though phonics has been proven to work much, much better. But as written on the CATO blog "Do public school districts go out of business if they adopt lousy methods or materials? No. That’s why lousy methods have survived for so long in the public school monopoly."
