Liberal Fascism
Johan Goldberg's book Liberal Fascism is currently ranked #1 on Amazon. Political science professor Henry Farrell believes that it's fair to dismiss the book "without having read it." Farrell also wonders why Goldberg would be so silly as to think his book will be "an important intellectual contribution to debate between the left and the right."
This perfectly captures why left-wing college professors have so little influence on America outside of their campuses. Because it is a bestselling book, Liberal Fascism will have a large influence over how many Americans view liberalism. If left-wing college professors dismiss the book without reading it they will do no harm to Goldberg, but will be making themselves even more irrelevant to the intellectual world outside of college campuses.
Imagine that Pepsi came up with a new bestselling drink and Coke's response was to completely ignore the product and not even bother looking at it. How well do you think this strategy would work for Coke?
