The Elites Lost on Immigration

The elites of both the Democratic and Republican parties very much wanted the immigration bill to pass. Yet, it just fell 15 Senate votes short of a critical closure measure and is probably now doomed.

If the media were still dominated by network television the immigration bill would have easily passed since the networks would have suppressed all "politically incorrect" views of it.

The failure of this bill means that we won't have large scale immigration reform until at least after the 2008 elections. And immigration will probably be one of the top issues for this election.
