Politicians and drug use
Politicians such as Obama who have admitted using drugs are often called hypocrites for supporting Draconian drug laws yet not volunteering themselves to serve the prison time that these drug laws call for. But the real punishment for drug possession is probabilistic.
Let's say that if you use crack and get caught you spend five years in jail. But your chances of getting caught are only .01%. Thus the actual punishment for crack use is to suffer a .01% chance of spending five years in prison. Politicians such as Obama can unhypocritically say that they did face this kind of probabilistic risk when they used drugs, and support other drug users facing it as well.
