Free market documentary

The documentary film Street Fight details the 2002 mayoral election in Newark. According to the film the incumbent mayor punished those who dared support his rival. Those who lived in public housing were forced out of their apartments. Those who owned businesses had their firms shut down for code violations. (Business owners became afraid to even put up signed supporting the mayor's opponent.) And those who supported the mayor's rival and worked for the city were demoted.

The film shows that the more power a politician has over an economy the more tools the politician has to punish opponents and so preserve his incumbency. Democracy and socialism don't well mix.
