Cap and Trade and Lobbyists
In Saturday's Democratic presidential debate the candidates went from attacking the influence of lobbyists to supporting a cap and trade carbon policy. Well, under cap and trade politicians determine how many carbon credits each firm gets. These carbon credits would be extraordinarily valuable to corporations. Cap and trade, therefore, would cause corporations to heavily invest in lobbyists and so would greatly increase the number of lobbyists in Washington.
In short: Cap and trade is to lobbyists what undercooked meat is to E. coli.
