Immigration and AIDS

From the Drudgereport:

"STUDY: AIDS virus invaded USA from Haiti in 1969; most likely by a single infected immigrant... Developing..."

If this is true and assuming that AIDS would not have quickly spread to the U.S. by some other means then over the last 50 years immigration has been a net economic loser for the U.S.

I suspect, however, that when most economists consider the costs and benefits of immigration they will ignore this information even if it turns out to be true.
