How to reduce inequality

The Sunday NYT has an article called The Inequality Conundrum. The article points out that a prime cause of inequality is education. Highly educated Americans make a lot more than unskilled workers do. And if you look at the truly highly educated, those with degrees from top schools and IQs above 130, the difference is even greater.
Unfortunately, the article fails to mention the best way to reduce educational driven income inequality: Import a huge number of highly skilled workers.
Imagine a U.S. immigration policy that allowed in anyone under 40 who had a college degree and an IQ above 130. Through competition these genius immigrants would reduce the salaries of native born educated geniuses, and thus reduce American inequality. These genius immigrants would also greatly increase America's wealth and so create more resources for everyone and thus help those at the bottom of our economy.
