Campaign Finance Laws
The U.S. Supreme Court favored free speech and struck down provisions of a law that banned corporate and union ads.
If I were somehow made a Supreme Court Justice I would only allow campaign finance reforms that favored challengers. For example, if a law doesn't allow incumbent politicians to collect more than $5,000 in contributions from each donor than challengers should be allowed to collect up to $10,000 per donor. Or if you can't run a commercial against an incumbent 30 days before an election then you shouldn't be able to run one against a challenger 60 days before an election.
Incumbents have a huge incentive to restrict free speech in ways that protects them from election defeat. To make sure that a campaign finance law wasn't enacted to protect incumbents, the Supreme Court should require that the law explicitly favor election challengers.
