Bush might still be judged a great president

Most people, even Republicans, have a low opinion of President Bush, but history might still judge him a great leader. There has not been a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. Today, most Americans don't have the information to determine if this is due to luck, lack of desire by terrorists to attack the U.S. homeland, or great presidential leadership.

Future historians will have access to Bush's antiterrorism plans and will know how many terrorist attacks his government thwarted. If they judge that the Bush administration was extremely skillful at stopping terrorist attacks then they will likely judge the Bush Presidency a tremendous success regardless of what happens in Iraq.
