We live longer yet retire earlier

Instapundit writes how Americans are living longer but are retiring earlier. I suspect our increasing wealth is causing both phenomenons. For many reasons, having greater wealth increases lifespans. Having greater riches also causes Americans to buy more leisure in the form of taking a greater percentage of their life in retirement. I suspect this trend will continue and in the future people might still retire at 62 even if they expect to live to 100.
