Was Obama a Muslim?

Obama's campaign is denying that he has ever been a Muslim. But according to the LA Times "two of [Obama's] teachers, former Vice Principal Tine Hahiyari and third-grade teacher Effendi, said they remember clearly that at this school too, he was registered as a Muslim, which determined what class he attended during weekly religion lessons."

This is going to spawn many conspiracy theories.

If this ends up destroying Obama's campaign it will have a catastrophic effect on the U.S.'s image in Islamic nations.

If Republicans have solid evidence that he was a Muslim I bet they are praying Obama wins the nomination. Because Obama has claimed he never was a Muslim Republicans could use the evidence against him by saying it shows he is untruthful. This way they wouldn't be obviously appealing to religious bigotry.
