Bye-bye Taiwan?

The economist magazine's blog thinks that China might soon be able to conquer Taiwan. They write that China is building up its military to it could conquer Taiwan before the U.S. had time to intervene.

But if Taiwan really wanted to preserve its own independence it could. Taiwan surely has the capacity to develop missiles with chemical and biological warheads. These missiles could devastate China's city populations. Regardless of how many tens of billions China spends on its military, it would still be vulnerable to such an attack.
