Econ Majors make more than Finance Majors
Apparently economics majors make slightly more than finance majors. I wouldn't have guessed this. Economics majors who earn the most money are those who go into finance. Lots of economics majors, furthermore, go into much less profitable fields than finance. I would guess that nearly all finance majors get jobs in finance so I wonder why they don't earn higher salaries than econ majors do.
Perhaps econ majors make more because the most prestigious schools don't offer finance majors. I suspect that at schools which offer both types of majors, finance majors earn higher starting salaries.
