Symmetry Doesn't Cause Beauty

Apparently, "symmetry has little to do with whether a face is attractive". I had long thought that symmetry was the primary cause of facial beauty.

I even mentioned this in class (in discussing why attractive people make more money than unattractive people) and many students also "knew" this false beauty fact. Oops.
