Not Everyone Likes Me

An online bulletin board for Smith College students linked to this blog. (I teach at Smith College.) One commentator wrote:


"i never actually read anything by this man nor have i seen him speak, but i've heard all the talk. i have to say it is much worse than i imagined it to be. it's disgraceful this man is allowed to teach at our college. in fact, it makes me want to puke. i don't think i've ever read an argument by a professional that was so ignorant, baseless, and biased. absolutely pathetic. "


When I first started teaching at Smith College such a comment would have devastated me. Now I find it funny. Teaching in an environment where many people detest my views has made me a much stronger person.
